RESUMO
La imagen médica es uno de los instrumentos diagnósticos más importantes de la práctica clínica. El desarrollo de la tecnología de imagen médica digital ha llevado a los servicios de salud a acometer proyectos de gran envergadura, que requieren de la participación y colaboración de muchos profesionales con distintos perfiles e intereses, además de considerables inversiones en infraestructuras. Este trabajo no se centra en los sistemas de tratamiento de la imagen médica digital, sino en la gestión de los proyectos para su implantación. Se revisan varios factores críticos organizativos, tecnológicos y humanos que deben considerarse para culminar con éxito estos proyectos, y para garantizar su compatibilidad e integración con otros sistemas de información de salud. Para ello se enumeran varias lecciones aprendidas de la revisión de la bibliografía especializada existente, así como de la propia experiencia del autor en la coordinación técnica de proyectos de imagen médica digital (AU)
Medical imaging is one of the most important diagnostic instruments in clinical practice. The technological development of digital medical imaging has enabled healthcare services to undertake large scale projects that require the participation and collaboration of many professionals of varied backgrounds and interests as well as substantial investments in infrastructures. Rather than focusing on systems for dealing with digital medical images, this article deals with the management of projects for implementing these systems, reviewing various organizational, technological, and human factors that are critical to ensure the success of these projects and to guarantee the compatibility and integration of digital medical imaging systems with other health information systems. To this end, the author relates several lessons learned from a review of the literature and the author's own experience in the technical coordination of digital medical imaging projects (AU)
